Shadow People

A couple years back I would see this black figure watching me from my bathroom doorway almost every night. I would always see the figure right as I was about to fall asleep and it would wake me up briefly. I paid no attention to it thinking that my eyes were just playing tricks on me.

Because the encounters were so brief, and I was always in a drowsy state, I wouldn't generally think about it at all the next day and therefore never told anyone.

One night my friend was staying the night. he woke me up saying that he had seen the black figure standing in the same spot in the doorway that I had always seen it in. The next night I acknowledged whatever it was and told it telepathically to leave me alone. I haven't seen it since.

My mother also had an experience with this "shadow figure", as I refer to it. Just a couple weeks before I was born she was laying in bed when a blinding bright light came shining through her bathroom window, standing in the light was a black figure of a person in her bathroom door. I'm not sure what any of this means or if it means anything at all. I'm not a superstitious person but there is no doubt in my mind that I saw this thing and I know my mother would never lie to me. If you could offer any advice I would be very grateful.
